Chapter Philanthropy

Children's Hospital of Philadelphia
Our chapter is proud to be paired with Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) as our local Children's Miracle Network Hospital. When CHOP was established in 1855 it was the first hospital dedicated exclusively to pediatric care. Since 1855 the hospital has been responsible for countless medical discoveries and innovations in pediatric healthcare. A few of CHOP's accomplishments includes the first pediatric day surgery unit in the U.S., first vaccines for mumps, whooping cough, influenza and rotavirus, the first follow-up program for long-term care of childhood cancer survivors, and much more! CHOP now has 527 beds and more than 1 million outpatient visits and impatient admissions each year. In fact, people come from all over the world to be treated at CHOP. Phi Mu Phi Kappa makes it their mission to try and have their new members visit CHOP every year so they can see the amazing things that their donations do everyday!

Get on the Ball
One of our annual philanthropy events is Get on the Ball, an event where our chapter pairs up with the ZBT chapter on campus to bring a giant 6 ft tall beach ball to campus. The ball is a great event because it is typically a week long string of events, such as Chipotle fundraisers, a kickball tournament, and more! The ball also brings together many different organizations on campus - we have many organizations that will get involved by donating which allows their members to sign the ball for free and gives their organization a designated spot on the ball, creating a kickball team for the kickball tournament, or even acapella groups that will sing at the event.

Toss for a Miracle
Toss for a miracle is a new event introduced to campus in Spring of 2016. We set up bags on the floor of Java Joe's with prizes inside and people paid in order to try and toss a ping pong ball into the bags to win the prizes. Prizes included a ChromeCast, Mulenberg blanket, a Fitbit flex, Magic bullet and more! The campus had a really great time at the event and many of our sisters actually won some of the prizes. Just like our other philanthropy events, this event features a bake sale, music blasting, and sisters having an overall great time for an amazing cause.
